How SaveMyVid reads a public X post
You paste a status URL. SaveMyVid extracts the numeric tweet ID and requests public syndication data for that ID. If the JSON includes video or animated_gif variants with content_type video/mp4, those URLs are listed as download buttons. Files still live on X’s CDN; SaveMyVid does not keep a copy on our servers after you download.
MP4 variants, not a re-encode
We do not transcode. If the author uploaded a high-bitrate 1080p clip and X still offers that progressive file, you see it as HD (Highest). GIFs on X are already MP4 loops with no audio track — we keep that format.

Progressive MP4s usually already include AAC. Animated GIFs often have no sound because X stored them that way.
x.com and twitter.com are the same post
Twitter rebranded to X, but both hostnames still point at the same status IDs. SaveMyVid treats https://x.com/user/status/ID and https://twitter.com/user/status/ID as one request. You do not need a separate Twitter tool.

What this tool actually fetches
X plays most videos as HLS (short .ts or fMP4 segments). What you can save offline is a progressive MP4 variant when the post still publishes one. SaveMyVid asks X’s public syndication endpoint for that post, then lists every MP4 variant it returns — labeled HD (Highest) down to SD (Lowest) by bitrate.
If syndication has no MP4 variants, the UI shows: “No video media was found in this post. It may contain only photos or text.” That is not a timeout. It means this status has no progressive file we are allowed to hand you.
- Works: public video posts and animated GIFs that X already converted to looping MP4.
- Does not work: protected accounts, deleted posts, photo-only tweets, link cards to YouTube, or live Spaces that were never published as a video post.

Follow these simple steps to save videos from X (Twitter) directly to your device storage.

Copy a public status URL
On X, open a public video and copy the link (Share → Copy link, or the address bar). Protected posts will not work.

Paste it into SaveMyVid
x.com and twitter.com URLs are both accepted. The numeric ID is what matters.

Wait for the variant list
If MP4 variants exist, you get HD/SD buttons. If not, you get the “no video media” or “could not be found” error — those are documented in the failure guide.

Tap a quality. On iPhone the file starts in Safari Downloads, not Photos. On Android it starts in Downloads.

Why did I get “No video media was found in this post”?↓
The public record for that status has no MP4 variants. Typical causes: photos or text only, a website card, or a video that X only offers as HLS segments with no progressive file. See the failure guide.
Can I download protected or private X videos?↓
No. If the post is not publicly visible, syndication returns nothing useful and we show a not-found style error. We will not add a login bypass.
Where does the file go on iPhone?↓
